A new threat to the world, the monkeypox virus continues to grow in different places of the world. Thus, putting the global health officials on high alert. More then 550 monkeypox cases have been reported in 30 different countries. The data set has been given by the WHO officials.
Only a few months have passed before people could stop the spreading of the deadly virus. The virus which struck the world and it ended in many casualties. The deadly virus also known to the world as Corona Virus or short Covid-19
But it didn’t end there, recently the scientists have discovered a new threat, the recent outbreak of monkeypox.
What is Monkeypox?
Monkeypox is a rare viral infection which originated in Central or West Africa. Through it has been identified in other locations in recent weeks, including Europe, America, Australia, and Asia. The spread of this new virus is being closely investigated by the World Health Organization.
For those of who think, Monkeypox is not related to coronavirus and they are of a totally different type. Monkeypox is a DNA type virus unlike coronavirus which is RNA. The new virus is in the same group as cowpox and smallpox. The vaccination of smallpox is 85% effective against monkeypox. Yet only few people are able to get vaccination against it.
Monkeypox virus spreads through the direct contact of body fluids or the sores of the body of someone affect by monkeypox, or by materials which have direct contact to our body such as are clothes.
Is Monkeypox fatal?
The virus can be deadly to people who live in poor places with inadequate health care. The virus starts as rashes starts to appear on the face from 1 to 5 days after the first symptoms. The rashes begin from the face and starts spreading to the whole body. The rashes for smallpox are similar to chickenpox. The rash starts as raised spots but turn into small blisters filled with fluids.
As the virus its self is not deadly as many people infected survived with medical treatment. But as soon as symptoms develop, reporting is important. Also, it is important to separate their belonging and reducing the contact. It is us who can stop the spreading of this virus so it is important to have some awareness about monkeypox and be ready for the unexpected.
